My Style

Simply, beautiful wedding photography
natural – timeless – beautiful
I know from experience that the most flattering pictures are often captured when people are not aware of them being taken. It is also very important to me that my couples really enjoy their day to the full. I want you to be having the time of your lives whilst I work hard behind the scenes on your behalf. I follow the action of the day as it naturally happens, catching those all important moments as you exchange your vows, hug your loved ones or spot old friends from school and university amongst your guests.  I plan ahead for the best time to have a short time with the two of you alone to capture some beautiful couple portraits and any important family groups you have asked for ~ but I do this quietly, efficiently and with minimum interruption to the party. If I have been recommended to you or you have seen me working at a wedding, you will know that my approach is professional, friendly and discreet, blending easily with the guests in order to capture the best natural, un-posed shots.

In short, I aim to capture authentic, beautiful photographs of your wedding day whilst making as little drama about it as possible! If you are a couple who would like to relax and enjoy your wedding day with your guests, confident in the knowledge that a wonderful record of the day is being captured for you…please contact me to have a chat.

My approach is to capture the complete scene – the place you chose to get married, the personal touches and details and of course your family and friends sharing the day with you. I aim to create a story of your day for you through my pictures, giving give you a unique record of memories of your day.

I usually start early on the day of the wedding, spending the preparation time with the bride and her family, recording the excitement and anticipation, as everyone gets ready for the ceremony. This is a time for natural photography, for putting everyone at their ease and simply capturing the start of the story with no interference or direction.

I leave for the church ahead of the bridal party, with plenty of time to introduce myself to the vicar and check I have an unobtrusive vantage point for the ceremony. I am ready to photograph your friends as they arrive, identifying and building a rapport with the people who will be an important part of the day.

During the ceremony I use high quality fast lenses, which mean I will never cause a distraction with artificial lighting. I discreetly capture the important moments as you are married and am ready as you come out from the church under a cloud of confetti. I take LOTS of confetti shots, which I think is one of the most fabulously joyful moments of the day, full of colour and movement and HAPPINESS!

Once everyone is back at the reception, I quickly do any formal groups you require. I do this quietly and efficiently, with the help of one of your ushers, ensuring you can get back as soon as possible to your friends and back to enjoying your party!

I believe that people prefer pictures of themselves which have been captured naturally, when they are unaware of the camera. People tend to just look ‘more like themselves’ when photographed in this way.

After I have taken a small set of more formal, elegantly displayed, family groups, I then focus on mingling amongst the guests. I follow the action as they explore the venue, enjoying the champagne, canapés and beautiful gardens. I look out for laughter, fun and any unseen moments to create an honest record for you and to add personality and depth to the story of your day.

One of my favourite times to capture totally natural and relaxed images is during the speeches. Even the most camera shy guests will have forgotten I’m there as they sit back and enjoy the Best Man’s speech! This later part of the day can often yield those classic, characterful shots of your loved ones as you remember them best!

I will be taking shots of all the wedding details throughout the day. Starting with all the bride’s accessories as gets ready and then on to any floral or architectural details of interest at the church or venue.

Before the party moves to sit down for dinner, I will make sure that I have spent some time photographing the dining details… the settings,  floral decorations, table plans, favours and name cards so that you have a pictorial keepsake of all your ideas and hard work.

I aim to capture all of the five senses in my detail shots so that afterwards you can vividly remember what you saw, heard, smelt, tasted and touched!

I always love to stay to photograph your First Dance, when it can often appear that you have forgotten everyone else in the room and are just present in the moment with each other. This is quickly followed by the time couples all tell me is very special… that moment as you are joined on the dance floor by your family and friends and really start to PARTY!

As I leave your wedding, my final signature shot is always taken from outside, looking back inside, past the fairy lights strung in the trees, to the warmth, music and sounds of laughter inside as you party on into the night.

From start to finish, our experience with Justine was perfect. From our initial meeting right through to our wedding day, Justine was always able to answer any of our questions and was more than receptive of any ideas or requests we had. Throughout our wedding day, all of our photographs were taken with complete professionalism and without fuss. The photos we have received as an end result have blown us away and we could not recommend Justine more highly
